Job Spec

Shirley won our 'Name our Teddy' competition on LinkedIn, and she proudly named him 'Shreddy Teddy'! Upon popping in for some shredding at our shred as you wait facility in Chichester, (and a cuddle with Shreddy Teddy) she mentioned her stepdad was looking to move into a care home and she needed some assistance to clear the contents of his flat.

Obstacles

The flat was located on a 1st floor with no lift, which proved challenging when moving the bulkier domestic furniture items. The moving date was fluid and so we had to await confirmation of the official moving date and respond swiftly.

Solution

Identity Destruction Ltd was pleased to be able to swiftly send a 2-man team and flat was cleared of all household items within just 5 hours.

We collect all manner of bedroom furniture including bed frames, wardrobes and mattresses

We fully clear out kitchen cupboards and collect and recycle everything including fridge freezers and microwaves

We collect any and all lounge items including sofas, dining tables and chairs

We are able to re-use and repurpose intact furniture with local charities to help families in need and reduce waste

Outcome

All the electrical white goods from the property along with the wooden furniture and the metal items were fully recycled and we achieved a 90% recycling rate on this house clearance.

Feedback

I've used Identity Destruction for my shredding but hadn't realised they could also help with house clearance. Getting my stepdad into a care home had already been a bit stressful, so it was great that I could leave the flat clearance in the team's capable hands.

Being on the first floor, access wasn't easy, especially for some of the bigger pieces of furniture, but they did an amazing job and left everything very clean and tidy so we could get in and decorate before putting the flat on the market.

One of the reasons I use ID is that I know how hot they are on the recycling angle, so it was great to know that as much as possible would be recycled (and I wouldn't come across it dumped at the side of the road somewhere!) Well done Team ID!
